For Teens
The CanTeen provides teens between 8th and 12th grade a safe place to hang out after school! The CanTeen is a place where teens connect with friends, have fun, and grab a bite to eat. Everyone is welcome. Stop by and discover for yourself what The Canteen is all about!
Programs
The CanTeen partners with several organizations to help teens make good choices about drugs, alcohol and relationships. We also invite guests to speak about teen-specific issues like planning for college or resume building. Other programs cast law enforcement in a positive light or enlighten our participants on a variety of contemporary topics.
Staff & Youth Bureau
The Greater Cicero Community Connections for Youth Board is an advisory board comprised of members from the four municipalities and school district that our Youth Bureau covers in northern Onondaga County – Towns of Cicero, Clay, Salina and the Village of North Syracuse, and the North Syracuse Central School District. Meetings are held monthly with our goals set for the calendar year in fall of the previous year.
For Adults
The CanTeen offers a safe space where teens can be themselves and find that guidance regardless of their backgrounds. Our youth-led program for eighth through 12th graders provides essential support and fellowship to more than 500 participants each year.
Friends of the Canteen
The Friends of the CanTeen organization was formed out of necessity to raise funds for the sole purpose of support for the operation of the CanTeen program. The Friends group an official 501c3 organization was incorporated in October 2004. The friends Board meets monthly to discuss fundraising ideas and the implementation of those ideas. All donations are tax deductible.
